Day 3 – Are we there yet?!

So we’ve arrived in Orlando! After a full night sleep on the train if 10 hours straight. I wouldn’t call it ‘restful’ because the train moves. I by nature am a light sleeper, so I woke up every hour or two, checked the time, then tried to go back to sleep. I took the top bunk which comes with complementary straps to make sure you don’t fall out! Even though they looked like parachuters harnesses I’m glad they were there. there were a few times I was afraid we were going to de-rail! But its a train, and it moves!

We couldn’t be more proud of the kids. It probably had something to do with the fact they only had 5 hours total the night before, but whatever! Ill take what I can get! We opened our eyes to golden sun and green palm trees. I had forgotten how much I love it here. Only not so great thing is that it is only going to be a high of 58 today. Still, ill take a cold day in Florida above a cold day in Massachusetts any day!

Breakfast in the dining car

After waking up around 6:30, diaper changes and bottles, we made our way to the dining car. We all sat together having some cereal, bananas, and bagels. Soon after we packed up our things, had one last surprise poopie diaper by Avery, and and off the train we went.

Narrow hallways carrying children to breakfast

As I walked down the narrow hallways dropping things while trying to get off I of could feel judgmental eyes on me. I know because I used to be that person thinking ‘that poor lady, she has her hands full!’ So much so that a random woman had her arms out asking of I wanted help. I was thinking ‘lady, I don’t know you. I’m sorry but you can not hold either of my children.’ But instead I said ‘oh that’s okay. My husband is coming right now. Thanks though!’.

Before leaving our car in Virginia, they give you a number. We waited as they took off and called each car’s number, which went okay. Peyton was restless so Eric took him to the park I had spotted when we were getting off the train. When our car came came off the train it was like being reunited with an old friend. (Hello Traverse! I missed you!) We loaded ourselves up and did ‘Around Me’ to find the nearest Starbucks. (Hello Starbucks, my other old friend!) after that we made our way to the Buena vista Resort and Spa.

With 4 hours to kill before check in, what does one do? Well if you have small kids you look for any possible playground possible. We found that, and Irish Pub, AND a walking outlet mall right next to our resort! SCORE! After that, some lunch and then finally seeing our friends whom we made this long journey to spend time with. Ivey and I got to go for a spa treatment once we got there. Very relaxing after a long trip. That night, it was pizza, catching up, and of course, sleeping.

Reflections Spa – awesome place.

I can definitively say that 2024 was the most transformative year I’ve ever had. From having back surgery which changed my quality of life, to losing 45 lbs (and still going!) every second felt like a culmination of long journeys I’ve been on for years. Seeing The Rolling Stones, Creed, and The Eras Tour are all core memories I’ll store away for a rainy day. Nothing was without surprise, like making an unexpected and major career change into CTE Administration, and becoming a Ciocia again. I wouldn’t change a thing that happened in my life in 2024. I’m thankful for the friends and family who I shared incredible memories and experiences with this year. I can’t want to make even more in 2025. ✨Happy New Year! ✨
And with that, my 2024 wedding photography season is complete. The first wedding I ever helped out on I was 18 years old. I’m 43 now which means that I’ve been working in the Wedding Photography industry for 25 years. Every year I learn something completely new and this year was no different.

Working with families and couples side-by-side, in some cases for years, to help them orchestrate the day of their dreams is something I take great pride in. I feel honored that my clients have chosen me to be present and document some of the most significant moments of their lives. I am also grateful for their faith in myself and my team to give experience based guidance, always with their best interest at heart.

All of my experience and the things I’ve learned along way have only made me a stronger entrepreneur, leader, and instructor in my vocation to the thousands of students I’ve taught over the years. Some of them moving on to become professional photographers, filmmakers, or artists themselves. Being a practicing photographer in my industry has given me more than I could have ever dreamt of as a 17-year-old kid taking Photography as an elective at HCC.

For that, I want to thank all the couples, families, friends, and wedding professionals that I’ve had the pleasure of working with this year. Each one of you has filled my heart with joy and gratitude. Thank you for trusting me with documenting some of the most important moments in your lives. It’s been some of the greatest joys of my career.

See you in 2025!
