The Wedding Experience

As a wedding photographer, I believe the best stories are told as they happen, which is how you also tend to remember it in your mind. Where traditional artists use pencil and paper, Photographers use cameras and light to create their narratives. As an artist I am drawn to moments that are captured naturally, and believe the light that surrounds you assists in telling your story.

If you've arrived here perhaps you were drawn to the light and airy feel of my work. The sun, and an experienced intuition for timing have been the foundation that I've built my wedding and portrait photography on. The sun, after all, is the strongest lightsource we have, and for me its THE key factor that enables me to capture your day in a whimsical and romantic way.

For my work I want to deliver a collection that is consistent with my style and with what you see on my website. In order to do that I make a custom plan with my clients that map out how we can best utilize our location to shoot, as well as the sun to best illustrate your love story. Living in New England, this isn't always possible. We have cold winters, and daylight savings where the sun sometimes sets around 430pm. Should you choose to get married during that time, rest assured that I will work hard to ensure that at least part of your collection has some of that style which you were initially drawn to. I also may suggest doing some formals prior to your ceremony, maybe a first look, or perhaps trying for an earlier timeline.

You may be thinking 'You're a natural light photographer, so does that mean you don't use flash?' For my art I tend to believe that flash has its time and place, like receptions, or in rooms that are very dark or poorly lit. When faced with those challenging situations I will always supplement with additional lighting to capture the scene as needed. In the end, my ultimate goal is to always create images where I utilize the enviornment I am in. my heart is always with the sun and the way it can enhance any love story.

Information & Investment

Your Story, Told Through Light

I believe the best stories are told exactly as they happen, by unfolding naturally, just as you’ll remember them years from now. While traditional artists use pencil and paper, I use a camera and light to craft your narrative. As an artist, I am drawn to the unscripted; I believe the light that surrounds you is a vital character in your love story.

The Art of the Sun

If you’ve found your way here, you were likely drawn to the light, airy, and whimsical feel of my photography. The sun is the most powerful tool in my kit, and it is the key factor that allows me to capture your wedding day with a sense of romance and timelessness. That aesthetic is achieved consistently by utilizing two stong pillars in my photography skillset, which are experienced intuition paired with technical knowledge, and the ability to remain adaptive and responsive throughout your wedding day.

A Collaborative Plan

To ensure your final gallery is consistent with the style you see on my website, I work closely with you to create a custom plan. We will map out your location and timing to maximize the "Golden Hour" and best illustrate your story.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How many years have you been in the industry?
    • I started in the photography industry when I was 17 years old, and began photographing weddings on my own in 2005. I came into it during a transitional phase between digital and film, and because of that I am versed in both mediums. We have even been known to dabble in some medium format film at our weddings from time to time.
  • Did you go to school Photography?
    • Yes! I attended Holyoke community college and graduated with an associates degree of visual art photography in 2005. After that, I attended University of Hartford and earned my bachelor of fine art in Photography, then went on to earn my master of fine art photography from Academy Of Art University.
  • Are you really a teacher?
    • Yes, I really am a teacher and educator in my local community. I begin teaching elective photography courses at a local high school when my program grew in popularity. A short seven years after the program evolved into a full-fledged vocational program with a four-year course of study. Students learned photography, digital cinema, advertising design, graphic design, animation, illustration, web design, the list goes on. In 2024 I then moved into a vocational administrator role, where I support CTE instructors and students that are enrolled in one of our 10 shop areas. In addition, I am a professor of photography at a local college and have taught there for over eight years. I am a strong advocate for education, and love supporting my community, students, and families whenever possible.
  • How many weddings do you shoot per year?
    • before COVID I would photograph about 35 weddings per year. Although I loved being able to tell that many love stories, it left me with very few weekends to be able to spend with my family. Since then I opted for a lighter schedule, photographing no more than 20 weddings per year. Combined with my Family and newborn Photography, I stay quite busy and always love connecting with new couples and families.
  • Roughly how many hours do you recommend for wedding coverage?
    • This can be a challenging question to answer as each wedding is different. TO give a general idea on coverage, a wedding that is all in one location with no travel, and no first look about seven hours typically covers the day. For a couples that do a first look, the coverage moves to between eight and nine hours.
  • How many photos will I get in my collection?
    • A good rule of thumb is about 100 images per hour minimum. If there is travel involved, that number may shift slightly, but in my 20 years of photographing weddings, I've never had a couple ask for more photos.
  • Do you work with a second photographer?
    • YES! I have worked with the same second photographer, Kyle, for over 10 years. He was originally my photography student and he fell in love with the medium and decided to attend Hartford Art School. He is a Photography and Creative Arts instructor at a local high school, as well as a College Level Art History professor.
  • What happens if you become sick or can't photograph my wedding?
    • God forbit that I become ill and can't photograph your wedding, however, COVID taught us that the worst can happen. If so, then my second photographer, Kyle would assume the role of primary photographer, and we would ask a local industry professional to step in to contribute in the second photographer role. I would remain your contracted photographer, but they would do what we call executive shoot on my behalf. After your wedding day the images would be given to me, where I Would edit them to have the same aesthetic you see online, as we had previously agreed upon at your contract signing.
  • How do you manage late fall or winter weddings and still achieve your aesthetic?
    • Living in New England means we embrace every season, even the ones with 4:30 PM sunsets. If you are planning a late-autumn or winter wedding, rest assured that I am an expert at navigating our unique light To ensure we capture that signature airy style you were initially drawn to. to aid in this process, A few suggestions might be to consider a First Look to take advantage of the midday glow. If that isn't something you're interested in, perhaps An earlier timeline, which would prioritize outdoor portraits for perspective bridal parties and immediate family members. This would ensure that prior to your ceremony, you would have a collection of images in a natural light setting prior to the sun dipping below the horizon. We also pride ourselves on Strategic location scouting to find the best light available in all locations we photograph. Regardless of the season, my goal remains the same: to provide you with a collection of images that feel as bright and joyful as the day itself.
  • You photograph in Natural Light. Does that mean you don't use flash?
    • For my art I tend to believe that flash has its time and place, like receptions, or in rooms that are very dark or poorly lit. When faced with those challenging situations I will always supplement with additional lighting to capture the scene as needed. In the end, my ultimate goal is to always create images where I utilize the environment I am in. my heart is always with the sun and the way it can enhance any love story.
  • I really love dark and moody photos. Can you edit yours to look like that?
    • While I do understand that there are lots of different trends across the industry, my work is curated to a specific aesthetic to represent my unique style, which is a light, airy, romantic and timeless. I love being able to represent the true colors of the day, like the bridesmaids Dresses and your florals. I believe that Someday when the memories start to fade, it will be nice to reflect back on such an important time in your life and see it just how it was that day.
  • Do you shoot video as well?
    • Although they are very similar and both use cameras, I pride myself in being a master of one, rather than a jack of all. Still imagery is my preferred artistic medium, and I prefer to spend my time and energy in that particular focused area. I do feel that video is a very important aspect to include in your wedding day, as you only hear your vows once. I would be happy to recommend a variety of talented professional videographers I have worked with over the years.
  • Do you offer any discounts and Are your wedding collections negotiable?
    • I offer a civil service discount which includes all military, police, fire, medical, and teachers. Thank you all for your service and contributions to our country and community! I believe that all things in life are negotiable, and am willing to work with clients on what can work for them. I have even been known to barter with clients on occasion. So go ahead, make me an offer I can't refuse!
