Halloween!

Oh Halloween. A time of dressing up, eating candy, and freezing in the breeze. Come to think of it, I can’t seem to remember a Halloween that wasn’t plagued with cold wind, rain, and in recent years natural disasters! By some miracle Western Massachusetts was in some kind of crevice where hurricane Sandy just happened to go right around us and hit everyone else with a fierce vengeance! Unlike some of our dear friends who are stuck without power for possibly the next few weeks, we were given the great opportunity this year to get dressed up and walk around the neighborhood safely. That being said, Phase I begun: AKA Dress the children. There was the part where Nana and I chased around Peyton trying to get him to wear his Elmo costume that he was SOOO excited about. That was interesting. Crying, screaming, and downright toddler refusal. Once we got it on him I think he liked it, for maybe 3 minutes. Either way, I got my picture. Then we went for the second outfit change. This process can basically be summed up to ‘whatever he says yes to is what he will wear’. So, he decided to be a Heavy Equipment Operator. Anyone who knows Peyton, knows its very fitting and completely appropriate. He was happy once again. Then there was Phase II. This consisted of the actual Trick Or Treating process. I find this kind of ironic since I don’t actually give Peyton candy. Its more of a ‘let me parade my kids around the neighborhood in their outfits because I think they’re so cute’ thing. I had a lot of giggles with my awesome neighbors. I really am very fortunate to live in such a great place. Overall, once Avery got into that sunflower costume I didn’t hear a peep! She loves to snuggle so I am sure she was in her glory! Oh, and our pumpkins? Well, the squirrels decided that it was going to be a all you can eat buffet. I couldn’t bring myself to move it. So I figured, hey, they have to eat too. So there on the front lawn it sits. And somewhere, out there, in the cold, there is a very happy squirrel, with a stuffed pumpkin tummy on this chilly Halloween night. Have fun everyone! Be safe! 🙂
