Elyse + Erik | Married | The Hill-Stead Museum, Farmington, Connecticut

If I had to pick a way to describe Elyse and Erik’s wedding, I would say it was classic, timeless and sophisticated. There wasn’t a single aspect of their day that wasn’t thought of, and every single detail was done with care, and thoughtfulness. Luckily for this couple, Elyse’s cousin is an event planner in New York City, and was able to oversee every single aspect of their amazing wedding day. What she created for this couple was perfection, and Elyse + Erik were so incredibly humbled by all the hard work she’d done for them.

If you’ve ever been to the Hill-Stead, you know what an amazing location it is. The property boasts the most stunning early American architecture and grounds. Butting Miss Porter’s School, the estate has picturesque views, long stone walls, a manicured landscape, and sunken garden. It is a dream location for any couple, and for these two, it was a romantic dream. As a photographer, there isn’t a bad spot to take photos. Every angle is more beautiful than the last, and the mature trees around the property framed this timeless venue beautifully.

Elyse + Erik are a down to earth couple who take everything in stride. The two wanted a small wedding party comprised of only those closest to them, and focused their entire day on the joining of their two families, and the joyful celebration in this amazing location. The attire they each chose complimented their venue, and one another beautifully. The lace in Elyse’s gown and the soft pinks and greens in her flowers created a romantic pallet when paired against the brown tones in Erik’s suit. The sun set softly behind these two as they exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony surrounded by friends and family. They celebrated the night away, dancing, laughing, and sharing in so many new memories. As the night moved on, guests moved onto the dance floor, and there was no longer two separate families as the day began. They evolved into one, sharing in the moment, and soaking in the evening for this sweet couple. At the end of the night I walked away from their wedding with a happy and grateful heart, and excited for the future for this incredible couple.
