The one thing that they say you can’t control on your wedding is the weather. What would you say the odds are that a hurricane would hit on your wedding day? One in a thousand? One in a million? Well on Karen + Nelson’s wedding day they certainly were one in a million in so many wonderful ways! On their day the remnants of hurricane Joaquin came as an uninvited guest. But these two took it in stride, and knew that no matter what it was going to be a wonderful and unforgettable day!
Karen + Nelson are deeply in love. This is very obvious to anyone who meets them and sees them together, and for me when I photographed their Spark Session this past summer. Their love lights up a room, and their happiness is infectious to everyone in their company. Their choices for their wedding were selected with tradition and quintessential Martha’s Vineyard in mind. From the beautiful color choices for the bridesmaids, to Union Chapel, and the amazing speeches given for toasts, everything about their day was so memorable.
I feel especially grateful that I have a couple who was willing to go outside on a pier in a hurricane to take their formals. The wind was blowing, and the sea was moving, and there they were, the rest of the world swirling around them, but still all you see is how much they love one another. I feel blessed that these two amazing souls put their trust in my creative vision for them, and the result is a unique set of images that capture the essence of their day, and their passion for one another.
Here are my favorites from their whirlwind day!
As it turned out, I got to spend an unexpected night on the island after their wedding. The sea was very rough and the ferry called off the last trip back to Woods Hole. Many thanks to the inn keeper that took us in at 10pm, gave us a phone charger, and fed us. We are so grateful we were able to get a few hours sleep before we left on the 6am ferry, drove back to Chicopee, then to West Dover, Vermont for our next wedding! It was a busy weekend!! 🙂
I will always remember you two and this exciting adventure! Congratulations to such an awesome couple! Many blessings and so much love! xoxoxo
