Trish Kemp is a Massachusetts based fine art photographer and instructor. Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Trish always found herself drawn to artistic hobbies that encouraged creativity and the arts. Growing up in a rural setting taught her to appreciate many of the simple wonders that nature and the world have to offer.
She discovered her life’s passion in 1999 at Holyoke Community College, Holyoke MA where she took photography as an elective. The darkroom became her personal sanctuary, looking forward to each new discovery waiting to be developed on her film. She felt empowered by the ability to show the viewer how she saw the world through her lens. After HCC Trish obtained her BFA in 2005 with a degree in Fine Art Photography from Hartford Art School, West Hartford, Connecticut. Through the guidance of her professors, mentors, and international travel her art greatly matured. In June of 2007 Trish attended Academy of Art University, San Francisco, California, where she went on to earn her MFA in Fine Art Photography and created her thesis work Portrait of a Lady.
In 2006 Trish became a Photography Instructor who was shared between Chicopee Comprehensive High School and Chicopee High School, in Chicopee, Massachusetts. She is a 2010 recipient of the Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award for her dedication in teaching practices, enthusiasm for education and her content area, as well as her positive impact on children and her community. In 2012 she transitioned fully to Chicopee Comprehensive High School’s Career & Technical Education program to begin the Design & Visual Communications.in the highly competitive program students spend half their school day for four years of high school learning Photography, Video, Graphic Design, Web Design, Animation, as well as traditional art forms. Since 2003 Trish has focused the majority of her photography on fine art weddings and portraits. She prides herself on being attentive to her subjects and photographing them in a non-intrusive journalistic style. Currently Trish lives in Chicopee, Massachusetts with her husband, son, and daughter.
